Abstract: This is the story of Walter Upton and his many friends, who are all part of the Boy Scouts of America. Pat Malone, who is Walter's friend from Ireland, is given his first introduction to New York City and is invited to join Walter's Patrol during his time in the United States. Walter, Pat and Hal Harrison, a mutual friend of theirs, all decide to spend their vacation together hiking through the nearby woods, and find themselves snowbound and find refuge in the cabin of a trapper, Alan Smith, who shows them the life of a trapper. They get into many adventures when they discover a poacher's camp and an Indian living nearby.
